hometownstation : declared in KHTS Reacts To ‘Santa Clarita Diet’ Starring Drew Barrymore, Timothy Olyphant (VIDEO)

Starring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant as real estate agents living in Santa Clarita, the married couple's lives are turned upside down when Barrymore's character, Sheila, suddenly starts craving human flesh. In the weeks following the highly anticipated release of the brand new Netflix show "Santa Clarita Diet," KHTS staffers are reacting to the dark comedy series from their perspective as SCV residents. '"– Aaron De La Torre, KHTS Production Manager"My favorite character is Joel obviously, played by Timothy Olyphant. I think the fact that they picked Santa Clarita was really awesome because it is starting to make a name for itself as the uber suburban bedroom community here in Southern California. I saw it, I recognized a few of the actors and actresses, I thought, 'I dig this — it's binge worthy.

'Santa Clarita Diet' is not a good show (and that doesn't matter)

How 'Santa Clarita Diet' turned Drew Barrymore into a zombie
The job of making Barrymore (who doesn't eat meat) into a convincing zombie fell to prosthetic makeup effects designer Christien Tinsley. In the new Netflix comedy "Santa Clarita Diet" (which premiered Friday), Drew Barrymore plays Sheila Hammond — a suburban LA mom and realtor complacent in her marriage to husband Joel (Timothy Olyphant) — who upends her family's life when she becomes a member of the undead and develops a taste for other humans. Then there was that staple of all gory series — fake blood. "I think she was having a good time not being Drew in the other movies that we've seen her in. "They allow a certain slip and feel so the fake blood can glide over surfaces and resemble a real blood."The "Santa Clarita Diet" star who got the most screen-time covered in blood was Barrymore — a stark contrast to the actress' long resume of rom-com roles.
