Mediterranean diet may help reduce risk of Type 2 Diabetes

Researchers have found that simply cutting back on salt intake can reduce such night-time trips. The patients were given guidance and support to reduce salt consumption. The researchers studied a group of 321 men and women who had a high salt intake and had problems sleeping. Reducing the amount of salt in one's diet can significantly reduce excessive peeing — both during the day and when asleep, the study said. As a result of the intervention, 223 members of the group were able to reduce their salt intake from 10.7 gm per day to 8.0 gm per day.

A change in diet may have helped our brains get so big

The new analysis found that diet – not social group size – was the key factor linked to brain size. That is not to say that social group size plays no role in the evolution of large brains, say the authors. Rather, brain size is more accurately predicted by primates' diet, according to their new study published in the journal Nature Ecology and Evolution. However, Dunbar still maintains that social group size, not diet, is the key driving force. Second, Dunbar points out that social group size and diet need not be two alternative explanations of brain evolution.
