(CNN) -- Egypt's Eman Ahmed, believed to be the world's heaviest woman, successfully underwent weight reduction surgery on Tuesday, doctors in India said. "She is very happy, she started dancing in her bed," Dr. Muffazal Lakdawala told CNN. "She is battling with her life every single day," Lakdawala told CNN last year. "She has done well post-surgery; she's back in her room and taking liquids," he told CNN. But Lakdawala told CNN on Thursday that since Eman arrived at the Saifee Hospital in New Delhi in February she'd lost more than 220 lbs (100 kg).
Before the surgery, Ahmed had lost nearly 120 kilos that encouraged the doctors to move ahead with the high-risk procedure on Tuesday. MUMBAI: The much-awaited surgery that drew the world's attention to Mumbai's Saifee Hospital where Eman Ahmed , the world's heaviest woman has been admitted since February, was conducted successfully on March 7. The fluid reduction from the body further helped her to shed several kilos before the surgery. Dr Lakdawala said, "She still has a lot of fluid reduction which will help her to shed over 100 kilos in the next 45 days," he said. Surgeon Dr Muffazal Lakdawala, who is leading Ahmed's treatment, said that the decision to operate on her was a sudden one.
